So last weekend was the release of Dreamwork’s Kung Fu Panda. I’ve been excited for this flick to finally come out and even though I really had high expectations, I held on to the possiblility that it might be a huge dissapointment like so many other animated films that I’ve gotten amped about in the past. Well Kung Fu Panda delivered, and they delivered with extra sweet and sour sauce and extra fortune cookies(cuz those are delicious too). Every aspect of this film was successful, from its design to the story. I don’t want to start analyzing or breaking down the film, so I’ll just end this with saying that I thought it was a well paced film with comedy that didn’t seem forced, and though Jack Black could have overwhelmed this film with his personality I think his reads were some of the most entertaining and unique. The animators seemed to really pick up on the energy of his reads, and it’s evident in the acting choices as they really felt like Mr. Black’s mannerisms. Simple, paced, very entertaining, I love this movie.
Hello all! Well I know it’s pretty late but I thought I’d post the teaser for the new Ice Age:Dawn of the Dinosaurs. I feel very fortunate to get to work with such iconic characters, especially scrat. My first shot with him instantly took me back to the excitement after seeing the first Ice Age as a student. My buddy Darrin was with us and as we left the theatre we were geeking out pretty hard about how far the animators pushed the timing and poses and how damn cool it would be to get to animate such a stylized character. You know how a specific smell can take you back to an experience you had years earlier. Well, that’s kinda what scrat does for me, takes me right back to school, and the inspiration that movie gave me that sunny day in Portland.

As the spring weather is rolling in, a bunch of us decided to take advantage of the fact we can go outside again with a game of ultimate frisbee. It was the wierdest thing to see a group of 10 people over exert themselves within the first five minutes of a game of frisbee. And to see everyone, at the same time, stop in their tracks, eyes wide open, panting, shocked and puzzled as the reality sinks in that their bodies can’t keep up with there minds expectations. This was a sad moment indeed, half of us couldn’t control our breathing and teetered on passing out. So what could be sadder than the site of 10 geeks in complete denial of their physical atrophy? How about those same paley white forms taking ultimate frisbee a little too seriously and turning a bit aggro. Ackwardly, like wet spaghetti. So yeah, despite the pulled muscles, twisted ankles, cramps, and bruises, we had a blast! Next weekend… Kickball.
Hey everyone, Horton Hears a Who hits the theatres this weekend! Get out there and check it out and let us know what you think.
I’m writing to bring attention to the definition of Burk’d. The potent word so commenly thrown around to describe such acts as getting f’ed has attained new meaning. Due our buddys valiant efforts to create the most redundant and trite posts possible, I’ve decided to amend the meaning of Burk’d to include dull. So let it be known, that when your reaching for a description of something completely boring, repetitious, and dry, look no further than the term Burk’d. “Man I was so Burk’ng Burk’d at that Yanni concert i almost jumped out the second story window head first.” Or, ” DewD, Andrew’s site is so damn Burk’ng that I can’t stand to go there anymore.” Seriously, I do go to his site, mainly late at night when I’m having trouble going to sleep. A few minutes of reading portal blah blah blah gets me set to sleep like a baby. The only problem is it leaves you feeling drousy all the next day.
Ok, so in an effort to not seem so Burk’ng on our site I present a small present in the theme of our vacation to Hawaii. Holy Moly, when we arrived here we decided to jump in the water at a local beach. When we got out I though I might try a local mango smoothie from the shop on the beach. Good god, it’s so good. So Burk’ng good it’s totally not Burk’ng at all!
Here’s a fun little video to give you a glimpse of how good these mango smoothies really are. Klicky the picky!
There’s a new trailer out for Horton Hears a Who for all of you curious about what the project looks like. I’m so excited for March to come along and see all our hard work put together on the big screen, jeeez that seems sooo far away! : )
So we thought it might be fun to have a few friends over to hang out. The nights festivities were going splendidly when all of a sudden all gaiety was seized by a foaming mouthed monkey that jumped in through a window and masticated the hell out of someones neck.

Well it’s official, we just accepted fulltime positions here at Blue Sky! We’re super stoked to be included into such a talented and friendly group of individuals, we LOVE it here. Well, cheers, we’re excited for the future!
Well the first trailer for Horton Hears a Who has been released and here it is for those of you wondering what we’ve been working on. We’re having a blast working with these characters, its just too much fun to animate these guys. I find myself animating and out of nowhere I burst into tears of joy as I try to hug Horton through my monitor. Ok, thats a lie, but it sounded really touching for a second ha? So klicky the picky to see it!
